Cloquet Transit Company's history dates back well over 60 years. After running the company for many years the original owner, Walter Herbert, passed away in 1974. His longtime manager of 17 years, LeRoy Lane, was then given proprietorship to run the company. Cloquet Transit was later incorporated in April of the same year. In November of 1980, Ellen Lane and son Jeff assumed management of the company after LeRoy passed away suddenly. Since that time, Ellen has retired, Jeff has become the president of the company, and brother Jack has become the vice president.

We are continually looking for ways to be more cost efficient and eco-friendly. Our most recent purchases were seven Roush propane-powered school buses. Propane-powered vehicles have come a long way. They are a dependable vehicle with low emissions, maintenance and operating costs. Propane is even safer for the environment as it is non-toxic and non-poisonous. This is just one example of our efforts to provide safe, affordable and eco-friendly transportation.
